23 August – 22 September 2025

As winter begins to loosen its grip which it will soon, and we start to notice the first hints of spring here in Australia, Virgo Season arrives like a gentle hand on the shoulder — a reminder to slow down, take stock, and tend to the details that help life feel balanced and steady.

Where Leo Season encouraged us to glow and express ourselves, Virgo brings us back to the earth. This isn’t a return to hiding away — it’s an invitation to create order, to nurture routines that truly support us, and to approach life with a quiet, purposeful care.

Virgo’s energy is deeply practical but also deeply healing. It teaches us that taking time to refine, organise, and tend to the details can be an act of love — both for ourselves and for others. This isn’t about perfectionism (though Virgo’s shadow can lean that way) — it’s about creating environments, habits, and systems that let life flow more smoothly.

In the Southern Hemisphere, Virgo Season bridges late winter and the earliest stirrings of

spring. It’s the time of year when gardens are prepared for planting, cupboards are cleared, and plans are made for the warmer months ahead. We feel the pull to sweep away stagnancy and welcome freshness — both in our homes and in our inner world.

Virgo’s earthy wisdom encourages us to be present in the small, grounding tasks of everyday life — to see beauty in the simple, the useful, the well-tended. This season reminds us that healing and growth often happen quietly, in the background, through consistent, loving attention.

Element of Virgo — Earth

Virgo belongs to the Earth element, but unlike the fixed, enduring Earth of Taurus or the ambitious, mountain-climbing Earth of Capricorn, Virgo’s Earth is mutable — adaptable, responsive, always ready to refine.

Think of fertile garden soil: rich, well-turned, full of potential. Virgo’s Earth energy is about preparation and care — removing weeds, checking moisture levels, and making sure the conditions are just right for healthy growth. It’s practical magic: tending to the small things so the bigger vision can flourish.

This season, ask yourself:

  • What “weeds” might I clear from my daily life to make space for what I truly want?

  • Where could I be more consistent, not for perfection’s sake, but to support my wellbeing?

Planetary Ruler — Mercury

Mercury rules Virgo, gifting this sign with a keen mind, attention to detail, and a love of problem-solving. But unlike Gemini (Mercury’s other sign), which thrives on quick exchanges and variety, Virgo’s Mercurial mind works best when it can focus deeply, process information thoroughly, and translate it into practical solutions.

Virgos can have a thoughtful, measured way of communicating. Sometimes they might pause before answering, not because they don’t know — but because they’re weighing their words, making sure they say exactly what they mean. This inner dialogue is part of their precision, but it can also make them prone to overthinking.

This season invites all of us to:

  • Slow our speech and listen more deeply

  • Ask clarifying questions to bridge different communication styles

  • Value accuracy and thoughtfulness, while remembering that human connection is just as important as “getting it right”

Virgo in the Body

Virgo rules the digestive system, intestines, and spleen — areas that process, sort, and absorb what the body needs, while releasing what it doesn’t. This mirrors Virgo’s ability to discern what’s useful and let go of what isn’t.

It’s a good time to:

  • Eat mindfully and notice how different foods make you feel

  • Support your digestion with warm, nourishing meals

  • Honour your body’s signals about rest, hunger, and movement

Gentle practices like abdominal massage, herbal teas, or mindful breathing can also help soothe and support these systems.

Animals of Virgo Season

Ant — Symbol of teamwork, diligence, and community service. The ant reminds us that small, steady efforts can build something far greater than ourselves.

Honeybee — Pollinator, organiser, and essential worker of the natural world. The honeybee teaches us the beauty of purposeful work and the sweetness of shared effort.

Wombat — A patient and grounded creature who builds secure, lasting burrows. Wombats move at their own pace, reminding us to stand firmly in our rhythm and not be rushed.

Crystals for Virgo Season

  • Moss Agate — Encourages growth, stability, and a grounded connection to nature.

  • Smoky Quartz — Clears negative energy while keeping you grounded and calm.

  • Amazonite — Supports clear communication and balance between thought and feeling.

  • Fluorite — Helps organise the mind, clarify intentions, and improve focus.

Essential Oils for Virgo Energy

Virgo’s earthy nature benefits from oils that both ground and gently uplift.

Grounding & Connecting to Earth:

  • Cedarwood — Deep, steadying, and supportive for focus.

  • Vetiver — Calming, grounding, and helps settle scattered thoughts.

Stimulating & Clearing Stagnancy:

  • Peppermint — Refreshes the mind and promotes alertness.

  • Eucalyptus — Cleanses the air, clears mental fog, and invites fresh energy.

(Always dilute essential oils with a carrier before skin use, and avoid ingestion.)

Colours of Virgo Season

Virgo’s palette is soft and natural — inspired by the earth, plants, and sky at the turn from winter to spring.

  • Olive Green — Balance, renewal, and connection to nature.

  • Warm Brown — Stability and grounded energy.

  • Cream/Beige — Calm, simplicity, and space for clarity.

  • Soft Yellow — A gentle lift for the mind and spirit.

Nourishing Foods for Virgo Season

This is a season for simple, wholesome meals made with love. Think locally grown produce, fresh herbs, and comforting dishes that ground and replenish.

  • Late-winter greens like kale, spinach, and silverbeet

  • Root vegetables: carrots, sweet potato, beetroot

  • Fresh herbs like parsley, coriander, and dill

  • Comforting pastries or pies filled with seasonal vegetables

  • Warming soups and slow-cooked stews

  • Herbal teas to support digestion

Flowers, Trees & Herbs for Virgo Season

Flowers: Wattle (symbol of renewal), jonquils (joy in simplicity), and daisies (purity and gentle clarity).

Trees: Eucalyptus for cleansing and resilience; Paperbark for adaptability; towering Mountain Ash for perspective and grounded strength.

Herbs: Parsley for cleansing, rosemary for mental clarity (replace if allergic), lemon balm for calm focus, and chamomile for gentle digestive support.

Living with Virgo Energy

Living with Virgo energy is about creating a supportive structure for your life — but doing it in a way that feels nurturing, not punishing.

A tidy space can genuinely help create a tidy mind, but it doesn’t need to be obsessively perfect. Choose one small area each week to refresh — a drawer, a corner, a bench — and enjoy the satisfaction of caring for it.

This is also a great season to refine your routines. Virgo energy thrives when your daily habits truly serve you — not out of obligation, but because they make life smoother and lighter.

And remember: Virgo’s gift is service, but service is most sustainable when you also serve yourself. Self-care and care for others are equally important threads in the same fabric.

Ritual for Virgo Season — “Earth Offering Walk”

A simple outdoor ritual to ground, clear your mind, and connect with Virgo’s earthy wisdom.

You’ll need:

  • A small bowl, jar, or pouch

  • A natural offering: native flower petals, herbs, infused water, or seeds (only scatter seeds in your own garden — not in National Parks or bushland)

  • Comfortable shoes

Steps:

  1. Prepare your offering, focusing on one quality you’d like to grow this season.

  2. Take a mindful walk, noticing the details around you — leaf patterns, bird calls, the scent of the air.

  3. Pause in a peaceful spot. Place your hands on the earth or a tree trunk, and take three slow breaths.

  4. Make your offering with gratitude.

  5. Return home slowly, noticing if you feel more settled or clear.
