Wrap Yourself in the Moment: Slow Beauty & Deep Belonging

April 20 – May 20 (AEST)

Taurus Season, a vignette of cushion, candles crystals a mug some biscuits and flowers.

Taurus season invites us to settle, slow down, and return to the body and the world with reverence. It asks us to indulge in the present, to reawaken our senses, and to create space for comfort, beauty, and belonging.

For me, Taurus season always brings back memories of my childhood home. My mother—a Taurus through and through—had the most luxurious lounge room that I now realise embodied all the qualities of this sign. Dusty rose carpet and soft pink walls, floral cornices and roses on the ceilings, thick curtains draped in a bay window framed with sheer lace, and plush tapestry lounges. Every detail was chosen with care and love.

The room felt like stepping into a soft garden. A brocade footstool sat under her chair, and she would often be found wrapped in a cashmere blanket, her feet in soft slippers, sipping tea from a Royal Albert china cup with a pink rose and gold rim. She wore a floral silk robe, surrounded by ticking clocks, soft light, and the gentle scent of fresh flowers. This room wasn’t rustic—it was elegant, comforting, and utterly Taurean.

Though my mother lived a busy life as a career woman, she always had a room like this—designed to nourish, to settle into, to rest in. And every Taurus season, I’m reminded of her softness, her strength, and her ability to create beauty in her surroundings.

Taurus Season Energy

Taurus is the second sign of the zodiac, ruled by Venus, the planet of beauty, love, and pleasure. It governs the second house—associated with values, resources, comfort, and self-worth. As an Earth sign, Taurus energy is deeply connected to nature, the body, the senses, and the rhythms of the physical world.

This season is about:

  • Sensuality & Embodiment – coming back to your senses and tending gently to your body

  • Slowness & Sustainability – embracing a steady pace and nourishing what lasts

  • Pleasure in Simplicity – finding delight in touch, taste, beauty, and presence

  • Belonging & Grounding – surrounding yourself with what makes you feel rooted and safe

This isn’t about indulgence for indulgence’s sake—but a return to what truly matters. What comforts you? What holds you? What beauty already lives in your life that you’ve forgotten to notice?

Bringing Taurus Energy into Everyday Life

  1. Create a Sacred Corner: a cosy chair, a favourite blanket, a reading lamp, a small vase of flowers—this is your inner Taurus sanctuary.

  2. Cook Slowly: make soups, roast vegetables, bake bread, or create herbal teas. Let food be medicine.

  3. Move Mindfully: take a slow walk barefoot on grass or dance slowly in your lounge room. Let your body lead.

  4. Revisit Your Values: what truly matters to you? Let go of what no longer aligns with your inner worth.

  5. Touch the Earth: literally. Get your hands in soil, lay on a picnic blanket under the sky, or tend to your plants.

Animals of Taurus

  •  The Bull – Symbol of strength, steadiness, and sovereignty. The bull doesn’t rush—it moves with purpose and presence. It teaches us to protect our peace and honour our worth.

  • The Cow – A nurturing and sacred symbol in many traditions. The cow embodies abundance, provision, motherhood, and grounded wisdom.

  • The Deer – Represents Taurus’s gentler side. The deer moves through life with softness and grace, yet is alert and aware. It invites us to remain gentle while standing tall.

  • The Cat – Often overlooked, but undeniably Taurean. Independent, discerning, sensual, and ever aware of comfort, cats are masters of resting, receiving affection, and retreating when needed.

Flowers of Taurus Season

Traditionally, Lily of the Valley is associated with Taurus. In the northern hemisphere, this delicate bloom arrives with spring’s softness—symbolising sweetness, humility, and the quiet power of presence. But here in Australia, where Taurus season falls in autumn, you may wish to align your altar with flowers that reflect our landscape and season.

Consider the soft elegance of Camellias, the quiet strength of Chrysanthemums, or the lingering beauty of late autumn roses. Each of these carries the sensuality and Venusian energy of Taurus in their own way. Let your flower choice reflect your surroundings and what feels comforting to your senses.

Whether freshly picked or dried, a single bloom or a bunch, let your flowers remind you of what is tender, enduring, and beautiful in your world.

Taurus Season Ritual: Touch the Earth

This ritual invites you to connect with the Earth—Taurus’s sacred element—and your own sense of rootedness.

You’ll Need:

   •   A quiet outdoor space

   •   Bare feet or hands (if comfortable)

   •   A soft cloth or blanket (optional)

   •   A small offering (flower, fruit, herb, or crystal)

Steps:

Arrive with Intention

Step outside slowly and find a spot that feels good. Sit, stand, or lay down on a blanket or the grass. Breathe in the air, connect with the stillness.

Place Your Offering

Lay your offering on the earth. Whisper:

“I honour the Earth beneath me. Thank you for your beauty, support, and wisdom.”

3. Feel the Ground

Rest your hands or feet on the soil. Feel its texture, temperature, and presence. Let your body soften and be held.

4. Notice with Your Senses

What do you see? Hear? Smell? Let yourself be fully present. This is your sacred pause.

5. Close with Gratitude

Take a moment of thanks. Offer a thought, a breath, or simply your attention.

Optional Journal Prompt:

What brings me back to myself? Where do I feel most rooted and whole?
